You don't need a new door. You need that one panel swapped for a matching one and the door set back so it moves the way it did before. Hail is the usual cause around Lawton, though a panel can also give out after years of opening and closing.
What one bad panel does to the rest of the door
A sectional door is a row of panels hinged together. Each one carries part of the door's weight and rides the track as the door moves. When one panel is dented, cracked or warped, it stops sitting flush with its neighbors. The hinges and rollers at that section take the strain, and the opener feels it on every cycle. Swapping the panel early keeps that wear from spreading to parts that are still good.

When it's a panel and not something else
The clearest case is a visible dent, crack or cracked glazing after a hailstorm. Walk the garage door after any storm and look at each panel and window section from the driveway. May is the most active hail month here, so that's when we see most of these calls. A panel that sits proud or pushed in next to its neighbors, or a door that catches at one section, also points to the panel. If the track or a roller is the real problem, we'll tell you, because that's a different repair at a different price.

Matching the panel
The replacement has to match the door's brand, style and size. We measure the damaged panel and note the door's make before anything is ordered. A panel that is off in any dimension won't sit flush in the track, so we don't try to make a near-match work. We bring the panel along with the hinges and mounting brackets it needs.
Putting the new panel in
We position the matching panel in the track and align it flush and level with the panels on either side. Then we reattach the hinges, brackets and rollers with manufacturer-approved fasteners. We tighten the bolts firmly but stop short of overtightening. Before we leave, we run the door through its full travel to confirm the new section moves in line with the rest.
Wind ratings
Oklahoma's adopted 2024 Residential Code is the statewide minimum for one- and two-family homes, and it requires wind-rated garage doors. For us that means a panel on a wind-rated door isn't just cosmetic. If you're not sure whether your door is rated, tell us when you call and we'll look at it when we measure for the panel.
What the Work Covers
In detail, parts of it look like this:
- Carefully slide the damaged panel out so you do not harm the track or nearby panels.
- Set the matching replacement panel into the track and make it flush and level with the panels next to it.
